Teen Camp - High School Preparedness
Navigating High school looks different than it did when we went to high school. But what hasn't changed is their needs and fears. We just haven't prepared them for how to handle it. Understandably, we weren't taught because the same challenges didn't exist. Yes, social media is a contributing culprit, but it is not the only one. With larger number of students in a school, and the amount of information coming at them, and perceived expectations, our teens' systems are overloaded. A young teenage brain that hasn't developed the skill to manage the skills to discern what is worthwhile to pay attention to and what can be ignored. Unfortunately, not learning how to recognize this and tools to navigate it leads to the rise of anxiety we see in our teens today.
Your teen will learn how to discern choices based on their values, how to prioritize their brain health, how to build emotional strength, and recognize signs of concern and how to reach out for help.
We will also send home communication that will help you support your teen through high school.
We will discuss the following topics and how they affect the brain and mental health:
Virtues
Anxiety
Electronic usage
Self-Awareness
Emotional Strength
Social Pressure
Friday August 2nd, 9am-12pm
Location: TBD
Space is limited to first 15 people to register
